Rwenzori Region is one of the 13 regional structures of the Association of Secondary School Headteachers of Uganda (ASSHU), bringing together school leaders across the Rwenzori area of western Uganda. The region has a diverse setting, extending from the Rwenzori Mountains and communities bordering the Democratic Republic of Congo to urban centres such as Fort Portal. Ministry of Education and Sports statistics show that 126 secondary schools in the Rwenzori sub-region reported through EMIS in 2025, comprising 46 government and 80 privately owned schools.

Through ASSHU, headteachers in the Rwenzori Region have a platform for collaboration, professional development, advocacy and sharing solutions to challenges affecting secondary education. The region strengthens engagement between school leaders, local governments and authorities, while promoting accountability and school management. By encouraging unity, professional standards and continuous learning among headteachers, ASSHU Rwenzori supports leadership and contributes to improved education delivery and learning outcomes across the region. Recent engagements involving Rwenzori ASSHU leadership also demonstrate its role in strengthening school administration and accountability.
